IBackup for Mac - a new beginning

April 16, 2008 – 10:12 pm

We recently introduced IBackup for Mac, a backup application built from the grounds up for the Mac OS X platform. We were certainly late in the game, a few of our competing services had their wares out before us. But we believe that we have created the most efficient online backup application on Mac, with emphasis on performance and ease of use. During our internal tests, we beat out the competition at least by a factor of 30%. This includes the Mac’s own iDisk based backup.

In addition, as with IBackup for Windows, the IBackup for Mac does incremental transfers for both backups and restores. So even if you have multiple GBs of data to be restored, if you have fast download speeds, you can be assured of reliable restores within hours. It is without the question the most efficient backup and restore online backup application available today.

What makes IBackup unique?

April 14, 2008 – 4:39 pm

What makes IBackup unique? We have been around for over 7 years now, and the online backup and storage industry has witnessed major changes over this period. The most recent changes have been the most dramatic with some big names entering the market including Symantec, HP, IBM, EMC and others in the last 12 months.

Where does that leave us? Well, we have been growing at a pretty good rate. We have been able to meet the reliability and performance metrics better than anyone else in our space, including the ones with big footprints in the desktop software space. This is what attracts the consumers and the SMB to IBackup service.

While there are many advantages with IBackup over competition, here is one that stands out: IBackup does advanced incremental transfers (block level) for backups as well as restores that puts it at a league above the rest. You can schedule restores as well as backups and execute both efficiently. This is exactly why IBackup provides the only efficient scalable hot site disaster recovery solution.

PCPro rated IBackup as the best in their upcoming ComputerShopper Issue for May 2008 highlighting this advantage.

There are many other advantages, we will discuss those in future posts.
